What happened to 2020?

Sadly, my Tekumel gaming hit a speed bump when I discovered that 54mm "scale" does not necessarily mean 54 actual millimeters, and that "54mm scale" manufacturers are just as wildly variable as the rest of the industry. That effectively derailed my efforts mid-summer, and I have yet to get things moving again.

Instead, I re-focused on larger 60mm figures, in a non-Tekumel, Hyboria-campaign-inspired effort, which can be found over on my Lohwand blog. HERE.

I am considering 60mm Tekumel, but only in a vague sort of way...

A Band of Joyous Heroes: Actions and Combat

Actions

Combat

I'm a big fan of rules that can be distilled onto a single sheet. I don't think that will be possible with A Band of Joyous Heroes simply because of all the spell and creature descriptions that take up too much space, however, I can still make the attempt!

Yesterday I sent my latest draft of the first card: Actions on the front and Combat on the back. See above for what they look like. The are derived from the Dark Passage naval game I ran a year or so back. I'll be providing a detailed explanation later. Right now I'm trying to get ready for Cold Wars.

DAD (David Allan Design) - Coming Soon!

Coming Soon!

Some of you may have seen the 3D Printed Tekumel designs that David has been posting on the Tekumel Yahoogroup for a few years now. They are something he has been doing for his own amusement and in a scale that suits his gaming preferences. Now he has agreed to make them available in 28mm scale so that they are compatible with the Tekumel Project metal miniatures.

His range is comprehensive and in many ways complements the Tekumel Project range. He has, for example, Hlutrgu drummers that fit quite well with our existing Hlutrgu.

As with all processes, there are limitations. His Pachi Lei are superb IMO but I find his Ssu less good as the prints do not capture the texture of the skin. His Hokun are also quite good but he does not print in clear plastic. I am exploring getting these printed elsewhere. His range is quite extensive and is being added to continuously. And it is not limited to creatures! Boats - variations of my Khmer galleys and war canoes (see my Lohwand blog for details) - and a fast growing range architectural details.

Grrr...

I tried to post yesterday, but after a lot of typing a technical malfunction (damn mouse) caused me to lose everything. I was so disgusted I didn't try it again - heck, I don't even know all that I typed - "I was on a roll", as they say! *sigh*

Anyway, basically I want to start using this blog for what it was intended - Tekumel gaming. I am hoping to post something daily - either on Kérdu, or on A Band of Joyous Heroes (BoJH).

Not sure if that is actually "doable" but I'll give it a try. And there is a "Short Adventure Challenge" coming up in September that I am thinking of joining, so if I want to use A Band of Joyous Heroes for that I'll have to set out at least the basis of the rules so people at least know what I'm talking about.
